Air Flow Systems for Healthcare Facilities

Guardian specializes in airflow systems to control airborne micro-contamination in healthcare facilities. As a member of McGill Cleanroom Systems we possess the level of expertise in airborne contamination control that is required in advanced technology manufacturing environments, such as semiconductor fabrication facilities, while recognizing the differences and unique challenges presented in the healthcare environment. The result are systems that provide superior indoor air quality, operate at very high efficiency, and provide the greatest ease of maintenance and user flexibility.

Laminar Flow Systems

Guardian Laminar Flow Systems are based on standardized airflow modules that are field assembled into single, contiguous laminar flow arrays. The assembled array is in itself, a single laminar flow diffuser, free of any ancillary supporting devices, such as ceiling grid members or ceiling framing, which introduce turbulence within the air stream.

Acting as a single device, a Guardian Laminar Flow array not only produces superior airflow patterns, but it structurally superior to other approaches. A Guardian Laminar Flow array is seismically braced as a single component and can support extreme loads, such as bariatric hoisting loads.

The entire array provides a completely leak free barrier between the clean environment and the overhead interstitial space, ensuring adequate control of room pressure and eliminating the possibility of contaminate infiltration from the interstitial space. The finish surface of the array is smooth, wipe-able and free of fissures, gaskets and other un-cleanable seams that are characteristic of approaches that rely on T Girds and ceiling framing to fill in and support individual diffusers.

Simply put, a Guardian Laminar Flow array is a complete system, not merely a cluster of individual laminar flow devices installed in close proximity to one another.

HEPA Filter Modules

When laminar flow arrays are not desired, yet higher levels of filtration of the incoming supply air are required, Guardian HEPA Filter Modules provide the solution. Guardian HFMs utilize the same standardized modules used in the Laminar Flow systems but have special face screens to promote mixing between the highly filtered incoming supply air and the existing room air. HFMs employ the dilution theory of airborne contamination control, whereas laminar flow systems employ the displacement theory of airborne contamination control. HFMs provide moderately improved room air cleanliness without the need for the high airflow volumes required by laminar flow systems.

Guardian HFMs are available for both gypsum board ceilings and T-Grid based ceilings. HEPA filter elements are easily replaceable from the room side. Above ceiling Manual Volume Dampers are not required as Guardian HFMs feature integrated room-side balancing / shut-off dampers.
